The first D23 Expo will take place at the Anaheim Convention Center from September 10, 13, 2009. It is the single largest gathering of all things Disney ever assembled. Almost every part of The Walt Disney Company will be represented. The event is open to the general public and D23 members, with 1-day and 4-day ticket options. D23 members receive discounted admission on up to four tickets, with a maximum savings of $84 with the purchase of four 4-day admissions. D23 was introduced on March 10, 2009 by Robert Iger during The Walt Disney Company annual meeting in Oakland, California. The name “D23″ refers to two things. The “D” refers to Disney. The “23″ refers to 1923, the year The Walt Disney Company was founded by Walt Disney and his brother Roy O. Disney. The purpose of D23 is to give Disney fans everywhere a better connection to the entire world of Disney by “placing them in the middle of the magic.” Components of D23 include a free Web site, Disney twenty-three (a quarterly publication), member events and the D23 Expo, a Disney fan convention dubbed “The Ultimate Disney Fan Experience” along with some of the coolest exclusive collectibles.
